Quranic Studies

Quranic Studies is taught by staff members who are specialist in delivering lessons for Tajweed, Recitation, Memorization and Tafseer with reference to authentic Hadith and Quranic Arabic.

One lesson a week is delivered to years 7-9.

Foundation and Higher Groups:

Pupils in Years 7 to 9 are divided into two ability groups and their prior knowledge in Qur’an is taken into account.

Both, the higher and the foundation group concentrate on correct recitation, however, more emphasis on Tajweed rules at the foundation level and on memorization at the higher level are applied.

Annual Qur’an Competition:

One of the events in the school calendar is the Annual Qur’an Competition. It takes place towards the end of the spring term and a large number of girls cross the year groups participate.

The pupils are judged on memorisation and tajweed rules. The competition is judged by an internal panel of judges from within the school community. The competition runs from years 7- 11 and three winners are selected, taking 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively.
